Nestled in the village of Staveley near Kendal, the southern gateway to the Lake District, True North Coffee is built on a deep-rooted passion for flavour and craftsmanship.
Led by a former chef, Great Taste Awards judge, and lifelong flavour obsessive, True North approaches coffee with the same care, curiosity, dedication and intention that defines exceptional food.
We have over 20 years of experience behind our sister company and one of the Lake District’s most respected bakeries. With this comes a wealth of knowledge and experience that forms the foundation of who we are at True North Coffee.
At our roastery, we believe that great coffee starts with the right equipment. That’s why we’ve invested in a custom Probat roasting machine, designed specifically to bring out the best in every bean.
ROASTING WITH INTENTION
We roast exclusively on our Probat P5, one of the world’s most versatile and precise roasting machines. Every coffee is carefully profiled with intention to unlock the full potential of each bean.
After roasting, each batch is colour-matched using Agtron readings and rigorously cupped as part of our quality control process. This level of precision ensures consistency, something we believe is essential for any business and every cup served.
Working in small batches allows us to maintain complete control throughout the process and only coffees that meet our exacting standards are released.

COMMUNITY AND EDUCATION
We partner with producers who match our standards for transparency, sustainability, and community benefit.
We have the longest relationship with Forest Coffee in the UK and we value traceability: knowing who grew the coffee, how the harvest was handled, and what the environment and people behind it look like. Many of our partnerships are community-owned ventures where the producer, the land, and local livelihoods improve as flavour improves.
We don’t just take these producers for their word. We’ve experienced it first hand. Building that relationship to us is extremely important and something we proud ourselves on.
